Volunteer Opportunities

As we grow our site and services, we need volunteers to help us with projects. We'll keep a list posted here. If you'd like to help, we'd love to hear from you. NAPNES is a multi-disciplinary organization so you don't have to be an LPN to volunteer. All that is required is that you wish to promote and advocate the professional practice of practical and vocational nursing. Some of the jobs do require certain skills, in such cases, we will list the skills needed in the listing. We're looking forward to hearing from you.

Certification board volunteers to create new certifications for LPNs and PN Educators.
Help direct interaction between LPNs around the US and the world
Report to NAPNES state legislative and regulatory news impacting the practice, regulation, or education of practical / vocational nursing.
volunteer to mentor one or more students in your area.

Multi-Skilled Nursing Care Certification Organization
MSNC CO is the certification arm of NAPNES.  We need energetic RNs, LPNs, PN Educators , and consumers willing to work on the creation of several new certifications for LPNs.  MSNC CO members will work independently and with other organizations to create nationally standardized certifications for LPNs in the following areas:

Intravenous Therapy
Medical-Surgical Nursing
Dermatology / Wound Care
Disaster Relief / First Responder
Practical Nurse Educator (this is an RN Certification)

All candidates must be well versed in computer technology and use of the Internet.  Most meetings will occur using teleconferencing and Internet technologies.  At least one RN with advanced degree is needed to lead MSNC CO efforts and chair the work of the group and sub-groups.  LPNs are needed that currently work in and have expertise in any of the areas identified above. 

Gain a great since of pride and leave your lasting and permanent mark for practical nursing by participating is this important role.

Bulletin Board / Forums Managers
The Bulletin Board / Forums Manager will be responsible for fully integrating our software into the NAPNES online community and managing its overall use and functions. Responsibilities will include: setting up templates and skins, managing moderators, adding new groups (for example student affiliated sites), periodic database management, etc.

The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of PHP, mySQL, and strong familiarity with bulletin board software and functions. NAPNES uses "Invision Power Board" software package from IPS, Inc.

State Legislative Liaisons
State Legislative Liaisons will be responsible for notifying the NAPNES webmaster of pending legislation and changes in Board of Nursing Rules as they apply to practical nurses, in their home state.  This individual will also be responsible to write brief summaries of proposed laws and rules for submission with notification to NAPNES webmaster.

The ideal candidate will be a member of the board of nursing in their state, or be familiar with the legislative and rule change procedures with their state.  A PC and familiarity with use of e-mail and word processing software is necessary.

Student Practical Nurse Mentors
We are looking for LPNs and LVNs that would like to volunteer to be a mentor to student practical / vocational nurses. You would be working with students in your own state. Mentors will provide the positive support students need to help them through the programs and in to entry level practice.

The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude toward our profession, be currently licensed in good standing in the state where they reside, and a willing to nurture students of all ages, and backgrounds.
