Articles may be published in the Journal of Practical Nursing, on the NAPNES web site and/or as a continuing education offering. Guidelines for Submitting Articles to The Journal of Practical Nursing
- All articles should focus on the physical and emotional needs of patients and the
licensed practical/vocational nurse's responsibility in patient care.
- Clinical articles should include a nursing care plan or a section on specific nursing
considerations.
- Articles should be 500 to 2,500 words long and submitted in electronic format of
Word, Adobe Pagemaker, or Simple Text.
- Photographs, drawings, and/or charts illustrating material in the article are welcome.
- References used in articles should be included in the electronic manuscript.
- Biographical data of the author(s) should be submitted with each article.
- Since The Journal of Practical Nursing is a copyrighted periodical, please do not
submit articles that have appeared in other publications or articles you are submitting
simultaneously to other publications.
- All articles will be reviewed for relevancy and clinical accuracy by the editor, by
editorial consultants and by a clinical consultant. The final decision will be made at an
Editorial Committee meeting, and author(s) will be notified of the decision within six
to eight weeks after receipt of the article.
Please note -- The Journal of Practical Nursing, as a professional publication, does
not ordinarily pay for articles accepted.
