PRACTICAL / VOCATIONAL NURSING EDUCATION HOME

Welcome to NAPNES' practical / vocational nursing education gateway. From here you can navigate through a variety of educational sub-sections on NAPNES web site. While this area is primarily for non-members, there is also a great deal of additional educational resources the members-only area. The Department of Education at NAPNES is lead by Mary Eyles, PhD, RN. The Council of Practical Nurse Educators (COPNE) is chaired by G. Constance Butherus, MA, RN.

The menu at the top and bottom of this page will help you navigate around the major sub-sections. Each sub-section will have a menu to the right side of the content area that will get you around that specific topic.

Practical / Vocational Nursing Educators are strongly encouraged to contribute to this section. We'd love to have articles from you on "best practices" at your school, tips, techniques and other hints you'd like to share with your professional colleagues. You can email NAPNES' Director of Education by clicking here.

The Council of Practical Nurse Educators (COPNE) is a section devoted to P/VN Educators. COPNE is a "council" within NAPNES and its membership is primarily comprised of PN Educators. COPNE allows educators from across the country an opportunity to network and share best practices. COPNE also sponsors a PN Educator workshop every year.

The Continuing Education section provides approved online contact hours for LPNs, LVNs, RNs, and PN Educators. Registered nurses and organizations interested in obtaining approval from NAPNES for continuing education can download the application and directions by clicking here (PDF file). Registered Nurses interested in submitting a continuing education article can do so by emailing the JPN editor by clicking here. RNs can earn contact hours for their article submissions and a honorarium if your article is published.

NAPNES is pleased to maintain a list of PN Schools from across the U.S. Schools that are agency members, have 100% student membership and/or a local student chapter are entitled to a featured listing. This listing is a full-page on NAPNES web site that details the schools program, features and more. For details on getting a featured page for your school, email NAPNES webmaster by clicking here.

The "Education Standards" section will contain NAPNES standards on P/VN education, policy statements on P/VN education and links to state resources regarding P/VN education. Again, NAPNES counts on P/VN educators to help us maintain these pages. Please email our Director of Education (click here) with updates from your state department of education or board of nursing that impact P/VN education in your state.

Conferences and Workshops highlights upcoming events that NAPNES will be conducting. As we move in to 2008 it is NAPNES intention to begin and increase the use of live webinars (web based seminars). Live webinars have the advantage of being recorded and allow interested parties to listen to the program even if they are not available on the designated day and time.
