There are three councils chartered in the NAPNES bylaws. The Councils are:
- COPNE - The Council of Practical Nurse Educators
- CSPN - The Council of Student Practical Nurses
- CLTC - The Council for Long-Term Care LP/VNs
Membership in COPNE requires the individual be a full or part-time faculty in a school of Practical/Vocational Nursing. There is an additional $50.00 annual fee to join COPNE. COPNE members enjoy additional discounts versus NAPNES members and a significant discount versus non-members.
Each council is charged with the following responsibilities:
- Study topics of mutual interest of council members and make recommendations to the Board of Directors
- Establish standing rules governing council activities subject to approval of the Board of Directors
- Hold a meeting in conjunction with the convention
- Hold special meetings and workshops with permission of the President and/or the Board of Directors
- Submit a written annual report to the Board of Directors and the Convention
- Perform such other duties as assigned by the President or Board of Directors.
The chairpersons for each of these councils is appointmented by NAPNES President and confirmed by the Board of Directors. Each council has certain qualifiers to membership within the council, in addition to being a member of NAPNES. For example to be a member of COPNE, the individual must be a member of NAPNES and employed as a practical nurse educator. Full details about council membership can be found in Article XVII of NAPNES bylaws. |
